Importance of Pulse Oximeter

During this pandemic, many people are suffering from proper oxygen levels. To measure the oxygen, we use a tiny device that usually slides over your fingertip or clips on the ear lobe and uses infrared light refraction to measure your oxygen level. The Pulse oximeter measures blood oxygen saturation (Sp02) level, indicating what percentage of blood is saturated. In simple words, it shows us an estimation of oxygen that has been carried by the red blood cells. The oxygen saturation level is measured in percentage (%) and heart rate in (bpm). The normal oxygen range should be 95-100%, and for heart rate, the normal condition ranges from 70 to 100 bpm. If there is any slight decrease or increase in the value, then it indicates an abnormality. Sometimes the oximeter also indicates heart attack or its severity in acute settings such as cardinal infraction and may have prognostic implications. When baseline oxygen saturation by pulse oximeter is <93, then we can suspect the patient can have the chance of a heart attack. If a person is suffering from COVID, then they must check their oxygen level every 4 hours.

When your oxygen saturation levels are low, and you suffer from other symptoms such as shortness of breath, fever, fatigue, and chest pain, you need to see a doctor. At Vizag Volunteers, we have been supplying oxygen cylinders and oximeters for patients who are staying at home as self-isolation or under home quarantine. It lessens one's effort to run to the hospital for a bed and reduces persons' rate to keep in the ICU or MICU's on a ventilator.

We at Vizag Volunteers are supplying oxygen cylinders along with suitable breath-in solutions for usage of patients  who are staying in home isolation or under home quarantine. This in turn reduces the patient to run for a bed in hospital especially for oxygen supply and reduces the probability of a person to keep on a ventilator in ICUs or MICUs of hospitals. We are seeing so many deaths due to the lack of oxygen cylinders that are not being supplied on time to the patients which inturn is taking up their lives. We wanted to do a bit from our side to those who are not able to get a bed in the hospital or are in home isolation.

Our founder Mr. Satish always wanted to do something for society that made him share the concept of helping people with his friends. His friends joined the organization owing to his dedication, honesty, and history in serving social causes. Seeing the way Vizag Volunteers were working, many organizations joined hands, which increased the credibility of the organization in the city. They have come up with this solution to provide help to those who require various services like plasma, blood, doctor consultation, helpline 7337335557 and oxygen concentrators. Our volunteers are always available to answer your questions and  to guide you in the right directions.

Reach us through our helpline number for doctor consultation for those who are home quarantined and cannot go to a doctor Our volunteers will take your information and assign a doctor who can guide you with the required medication along with the nutrious food that has to be taken during the COVID time. We also help those who are in need of plasma or blood and we all request those who have gone through the 14 days recovery period to come forward and donate plasma to help those in need. Many of them are getting scared to donate their plasma but this is the only way where we can come in help to others and give them a life.
