During the second wave, when Lockdown announced and many people were losing their livelihood, Mr Sridhar, a Vizag Volunteer, informed us that a few labourers working at the Visakhapatnam airport needed help. Hence, a team of Vizag Volunteers planned to provide them with 25 grocery kits.

Groceries Distribution Airport

During the second wave of COVID-19, the nationwide lockdown brought immense challenges for thousands of families who depended on daily wages for their livelihood. With work opportunities suddenly halted and incomes disrupted, many workers found themselves struggling to meet their basic needs.

During this difficult period, Mr. Sridhar, a Vizag Volunteer, brought to the attention of the organization that a group of labourers working at Visakhapatnam Airport was facing hardship and required immediate support. Understanding the urgency of the situation, Vizag Volunteers quickly came together to plan a relief initiative to assist the affected workers and their families.

A dedicated team of around 9 volunteers coordinated the activity and arranged 25 grocery kits containing essential household supplies. The kits were carefully prepared to help the labourers meet their daily needs during a time when access to income and resources was limited.

The volunteers worked together to organize, pack, and distribute the grocery kits, ensuring that the support reached those who needed it most. While the assistance may have seemed simple, it brought much-needed relief and reassurance to families facing uncertainty during the lockdown.

The activity also highlighted the importance of community members looking out for one another. Thanks to the timely information shared by Mr. Sridhar and the swift action of the volunteer team, meaningful support could be provided to workers who were affected by the economic consequences of the lockdown.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the 9 volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to this relief initiative. Their commitment to helping those in need demonstrated the true values of service, empathy, and social responsibility.

Through such efforts, Vizag Volunteers continued to stand with the community during the pandemic, ensuring that support reached vulnerable groups and reminding people that they were not alone during challenging times. 🤝💙🌟
