Vaanaprastham Old Age Home

On 25th June 2022, the key volunteers of Vizag Volunteers visited Vanaprastham Old Age Home to conduct a survey and better understand the needs and challenges faced by the elderly residents living there. The visit was organized with the intention of identifying ways in which the organization could provide meaningful support and improve the well-being of the residents.

During the survey, the volunteers interacted closely with the elderly residents and observed that many of them were of advanced age and faced difficulties with mobility and day-to-day activities. Listening to their experiences and understanding their circumstances helped the volunteers gain valuable insight into the challenges faced by senior citizens who often require additional care and assistance.

As the team assessed the needs of the residents, they recognized that several individuals lacked essential identification documents, particularly Aadhaar cards. Without proper identification, many elderly residents could face difficulties in accessing government welfare schemes, healthcare benefits, pensions, and other support services available for senior citizens.

The survey visit was more than just an assessment activity; it was an opportunity to connect with the residents, understand their needs, and explore practical solutions to support them. The experience reinforced the importance of compassionate community service and the impact that small but thoughtful initiatives can have on vulnerable sections of society.
