On December 15, 2024, Vizag Volunteers, a leading NGO renowned for its dedication to community service, actively took part in a significant volunteering activity during the Navy Marathon at MGM Park Circle. This prestigious event showcased the enthusiastic involvement of over 1,500 volunteers from diverse backgrounds, each contributing their time and effort to ensure the marathon's resounding success. Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Vizag Volunteers played a pivotal role in the seamless execution of the event by assigning volunteers to key areas of responsibility, including: Hydration Points: Managing water stations along the route to keep runners hydrated and energized. Cheer Teams: Motivating marathon participants with enthusiastic cheers and support. Water Servicing: Ensuring the availability of water and other refreshments for participants. Medal Distribution: Presenting medals to finishers, celebrating their achievements. Baggage Management: Coordinating the secure storage and retrieval of participants' belongings. Crowd Management: Organizing and controlling the movement of spectators and participants to maintain order and safety. Traffic Control: Collaborating with authorities to manage traffic flow and ensure a smooth event experience. Food Distribution: Providing nutritious food to runners, volunteers, and support staff. Emergency Services: Assisting medical teams with first aid and responding to urgent needs effectively. Preparation and Execution: The Navy authorities approached Vizag Volunteers with 1,000 volunteers for the marathon. However, the Vizag Volunteers had over 1,600 energetic individuals registering during the ten-day recruitment drive. Vizag Volunteers conducted thorough follow-ups to confirm participation and strategically assigned roles across the marathon route, ensuring that every critical area was covered by capable and motivated team members. Transportation Support: Knowing how difficult it can be to organize such a large group of volunteers, Vizag Volunteers arranged transport from various locations. This made it easier for volunteers from areas like Gajuwaka, Pendurthi, and Madhurawada to join without any trouble. The transport team worked hard to organize pickups so that every volunteer could focus on their work without worrying about how to get there. On the event day, volunteers showed great dedication by arriving as early as 3:30 AM to begin their tasks. Even with the long hours and early start, they stayed enthusiastic and committed, ensuring the event went off without any issues. Event Highlights: The Navy Marathon was a big success, and everyone praised Vizag Volunteers for their excellent organization and support. From handling water stations to giving out medals, every part of the event showed the NGO’s dedication to quality and community service. This event made Vizag Volunteers even more respected in the community. Their ability to bring together many volunteers, manage logistics, and perform their tasks so well shows how committed they are to teamwork and helping others. About Vizag Volunteers: Vizag Volunteers continues to be a beacon of hope and support in the community, consistently stepping up to meet the needs of various initiatives. Their participation in the Navy Marathon is yet another testament to their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. Through meticulous planning, dedicated efforts, and a strong sense of purpose, Vizag Volunteers exemplify the true essence of community service and leadership.
