Vizag Volunteers team were among the first responders during the LG Polymers gas leak to help the citizens of the surrounding areas. We created a panic-free environment and provided natural remedies to the people affected by the gas leak.
We provided basic requirements such as food and water to the surrounding villages. We shared the ground information with other NGO organizations and worked together to provide help at the right time.
We visited the areas which got affected due to the gas leak and gave support and advice to the local community people. We were the first to reach out to people in need during the second leak on the same night and cleared rumors of blasts in the tanks.
Many people fled away from the plant and near to the beach. We were informed about it, and our volunteers provided them with water bottles during the night. We mobilized our volunteers with about 40 cars to the incident area in the night. They assured the locals that they would be transported immediately to a secure place if anything went wrong. There were about 100 cars awaiting approval to head to the area of the incident.
Our digital team provided continuous updates in the middle of the night to assure the locals that they were safe.
We shared trusted information to public via our digital campaigns which helped a lot in reducing panic among the people.
