Blood requirements come across to us every day. Blood units in full blood, Plasma or Platelets can be a need for multiple reasons like surgery, Childbirth, Anemia, Thalassemia, Chemotherapy and many others. We are encouraging people to come forward and donate by streamlining the process of blood donation.

DO YOU KNOW ?

Your body actually replenishes the blood you donate in just a few days! It takes about 24-48 hours for your plasma to come back, and your red blood cells take a bit longer, around 4-6 weeks.

Eligibility for donating blood

Overall health- The donor must be fit and healthy, and should not be suffering from transmittable diseases.

Age and weight- The donor must be 18–65 years old and should weigh a minimum of 50 kg.

Pulse rate- Between 50 and 100 without irregularities.

Hemoglobin level- A minimum of 12.5 g/dL.

Blood pressure- Diastolic: 50–100 mm Hg, Systolic: 100–180 mm Hg.

Body temperature- Should be normal, with an oral temperature not exceeding 37.5 °C.

The time period between successive blood donations should be more than 3 months.

Digiblood FAQ's

Digiblood is a project by Vizag Volunteers designed to connect blood donors with individuals in urgent need of blood transfusions, leveraging technology to ensure timely and efficient support during medical emergencies.

You can become a blood donor by registering on the Digiblood platform through our website or mobile app. You'll need to provide basic information and complete a health questionnaire to determine your eligibility.

You can donate whole blood every 56 days, or about every two months. If you donate platelets, you can do so every 7 days, up to 24 times a year. It's important to consult with healthcare professionals and follow guidelines to ensure your health and safety.

Before donating, ensure you are well-hydrated, have eaten a healthy meal, and are feeling well. After donating, rest for a few minutes, drink plenty of fluids, avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day, and follow any specific instructions provided by the donation staff.

Digiblood ensures the quality and safety of donated blood by adhering to strict screening and testing protocols, maintaining proper storage conditions, and following all regulatory guidelines for blood collection and transfusion.
