  • Summary:

In September 2021, the idea to organize a cloth donation drive for the tribals in Visakhapatnam district was conceived. Vizagites were appealed to donate their old clothes, resulting in an overwhelming response. More than 7000 pieces of clothing, including sarees, tops, shirts, t-shirts, jeans, and trousers, were collected from various parts of the city. To facilitate donations, 7 drop points were set up across the city, allowing people to donate clothes conveniently until the donation phase concluded on December 10, 2021. Afterward, volunteers began sorting and packing the donated clothes into boxes. On December 26, 2021, a team departed from Vizag at 5 AM and traveled to the villages of Madugulla mandala. Split into 3 teams, they distributed the clothes to different villages from 10 AM to 4 PM. The expressions of joy on the faces of the tribal recipients reflected the success of the drive and the impact it had on their lives. The organizers expressed gratitude to all the cloth donors whose generosity made the initiative possible, enabling them to share a part of their lives with those in need in the Visakhapatnam tribal communities.

The idea of creating a cloth donation drive came in September 2021. An appeal was made to the Vizagites, asking them to come forward and donate their old used clothes to the tribals in the Visakhapatnam district. The response was huge, and we received clothes from all corners of the city and more than 7000 pieces of clothes like Sarees, Tops, Shirts, T-shirts, Jeans, Trousers, etc.

We set up 7 drop points at multiple city corners, facilitating Vizagites to donate clothes to their nearest drop point. The donation phase was ended on 10th December 2021, and we started segregating the clothes and packing them in boxes.

On the morning of 26th December 2021, our team started from Vizag at 5 AM and headed towards the villages of Madugulla mandala. The members were split into 3 teams, headed towards different villages with their respective clothes loads. The teams started their cloth donation at 10 AM and ended at 4 PM. The joy created on the faces of the tribals satisfied all the efforts we put in to make sure that the drive was a successful one.

We want to thank all our cloth donors who came forward and donated a part of their life to share it with the needy tribals of Visakhapatnam.
