• Summary:

  Vizag Volunteers is a volunteering partner to the Rotary Marathon held on 11th december. This rotary marathon is organised by Andhra University and Rotary Institute, it consisted of 10k and 5k runs which flagged off early in the morning at 6am, this run started from kali mata temple which is located on the beach road to the tenneti park. Every marathon serves a purpose, the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University  P.V.G.D Prasad Reddy said that this marathon’s purpose was to create awareness about education and women's empowerment among the people. Apart from the normal citizens there were also Andhra university’s NSS and NCC cadre people who took part in the run. Not only them but the volunteers who were there to take care of the runners also participated in the marathon simultaneously.  Rotary institute chairman Ch. Kishore Kumar stated that a three day international rotary conference will be held on 9th of december, before the marathon was conducted, to which there were 1000 members appeared to the conference. Jennifer Jones who is Rotary International’s First Female President also appeared and joined in this conference. Vizag Volunteers gave around 200 volunteers for the Rotary marathon in which there were efficient team leads which were delegated to each aid station accordingly that lead the volunteers and runners with ease.with everyone taking part in an effective manner the marathon was made successful with the help of each other's involvement.
