  • Summary:

Food is the source of living for every human being. But, unfortunately, during the initial days of lockdown, many people got stranded on the roads and shelterless. For them, they couldn't fulfill the basic need in life. So we joined our hands and took the pledge to fill their stomach and leave no one in hunger.

During the initial days of the covid-19 pandemic, a lockdown was placed to restrict the movement of people and reduce the risk of transmission. The lockdown resulted in a lack of employment, essentials, and livelihood.
Many homeless people and stray animals lost means to food and other essentials.
Our team identified few locations in Visakhapatnam where people were stranded and didn't have food for days. We also collaborated with many organizations to fulfill the needs of the people in the city. Some of them are JCI Vizag Smart, TOSS NGO, Mother India Charitable Trust, GK Foundation, We the people, Rotary club, Vizag, RSSB Trust, and many nameless organizations.

We were very cautious about the hygiene and standards of food cooked in our kitchens. So, we took all precautions while cooking inside kitchens as we didn't want to spread the virus during our service to society.

We distributed more than 7000+ food packets for 30+ days in all our city locations. Through this, we were successful in filling the stomachs of the needy and served them when people were afraid to come out of their homes.

How We Executed

We partnered with kitchens that maintained high hygiene, cleanliness, and safety precautions. In addition, we identified a list of locations along with the number of people at a particular place.

We gave the number of food packets that have to be made a day before the distribution. All food packets made were packed in airtight packed covers and kept in a bag for distribution. Our volunteers picked those food packets from the kitchen and reached the location to distribute them. Our volunteers, during the distribution of food packets, have maintained all covid norms for safety.

With proper planning and following all norms, we have distributed 7000+ food packets covering almost all city locations for more than 30 days.
