Immunity Booster Drink By Vizag Volunteers

The Government of India has been suggesting that the top priority of people must be to take all necessary precautions including social distancing, wearing masks and enhancing personal hygiene and immunity. However, the extent to which this is being practised by the public is questionable.

As immunity plays the key role defending ourselves against COVID, the Ministry of AYUSH has suggested an ayurvedic immunity booster tea prepared using 11 Ingredients. We as an organisation have undertaken this task to provide this immunity booster tea readily for all people in vizag to safeguard against the spread of virus. Initially, our aim was to distribute approximateluy 100 cups of this drink each day in a particular place of Visakhapatnam.

As a part of the process we hired a Maruti OMNI car for 42 days where Mr. Prasad and Mr. Narasingh took the responsibility as main volunteers for cooking and distributing the tea. The team used to decide the place one day before and reached the location in the early hours to prepare and distribute the tea to local people. Our volunteers who are available close by also joined their hands for the successful completion of this activity.

Vizag Volunteers has served the immunity booster drink at 42 different locations in Visakhapatnam. The first stall was opened on 12th July morning and continued on 13th July morning near Central Park, where we sold 800 teas in two days. We opened the immunity booster stalls at many prime locations that served tea for one day to three days in a row, depending upon the people's flow. In some prominent places, such as Andhra University backside, we served 1600 teas in three days. At TTD Kalyana Mandapam MVP, we served 1200 teas in 2 days; at Ushodaya Junction, we served up to 1900 teas in three days; at Gajuwaka, we served 2000 teas in two days; at A.S Raja college, we served 2000 teas in two days. The total number of teas we did for the people starting from 12th July to 23rd September is 24,000 at 42 junction points. The volunteers serving the tea have followed all the safety guidelines during the pandemic. The organisation has spent Rs. 94,012/- for the tea ingredients, used sanitisers while supplying the teas, gloves, and masks.

To get awareness among the people regarding health is the primary idea for setting up the immunity drink stall. A lot of effort goes into making the tea but helping the people to understand more about the health makes it easy for us to prepare and serve the tea. Many news channels have covered us to ensure that the entire city knows about the immunity stall's idea. Vizag Volunteer's main motto is to create awareness among the people about the pandemic and the precautions we can take to overcome the situation.

Feedback: 

Many of them appreciated the way Vizag Volunteers had set up a stall in a mobile vehicle. An employee working at the BSNL office came to try out the immunity drink with his friends and feedback about what he felt. He said it was nice to see an organisation develop such an idea of providing free immunity booster drinks for all. Thinking about people's health is a great thing; such organisations must come up more in Visakhapatnam to help. We have seen many people losing lives and dear ones due to COVID. This immunity booster drink will help keep us healthy and fight the virus by providing more energy in our body. The person was happy to express his happiness on seeing our stall and decided to join the organisation and his friends and colleagues from the BSNL office. 

Vizag Volunteers have set up the stalls in various places to bring awareness among the people. People first doubted to try the immunity drink, but later they were happy to know about the ingredients that went into making the drink. All the ingredients 

Conclusion:

This activity was first planned for 100 teas per day. Due to the rise in people we sold 400 teas per day. Even though we had less funds facing many hurdles and challenges we were able to complete the process as the people’s health was the major important thing for us. Seeing us, many nearby hotels and tea stalls started to sell the same immunity drink for higher prices. We were able to create awareness among the people about the importance of body immunity and the importance of herbal tea.
